An enemy may be reconciled, but enmity never can be reconciled. You cannot affirm your intimacy, affection, and love for God on the one hand and the same for the world. Spiritually speaking, these Christians are cheating on God with the world. God hated us when we were proud before His gracious Spirit humbled us. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries and reserves wrath for His enemies.

We get hedonist. Lord God, thank you for that transformation because of our faith in Christ. And when Israel went a-whoring after other gods, Israel became an adulteress.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. Worse, anyone who continues to be friends with the world is living as God's enemy. Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

And this is really frightening. Are you in love with the world? They exist for pleasure.
